Lush Valentines Day | Get Ready With Me Event

Lush seasonal ranges are my favourite ranges of the whole year. I love waiting for them, and usually hate it when they stop selling them. Lush always manage to produce the best products, so when Lush Southampton invited me down for a pre Valentine's Day Get Ready With Me evening I was so excited to have a pamper session and preview the new products.

Like all Lush events, there was an array of snacks for to keep us going throughout the evening, the spread was full of fresh fruit, nuts and popcorn. There was definitely a healthy vibe to the evening, with no chocolate in sight!

Some of the 2015 collection made it's way back into the collection for 2016, including the Prince Charming Shower Gel, but in a reformulated cream form which is more thick and creamy which I definitely prefer. I'm not a massive fan of the scent of Prince Charming, so it's definitely one you need to have a sniff of before buying. My favourite from the collection last year, Unicorn Horn, came back with a new look, which I'm not a fan of, they ditched the stars, it's more pastel this year, and it's definitely smaller. Lush what are you playing at guys?! I obviously still bought one because it's still pretty.

Lip scrubs are one of my favourite Lush products out there, I own 2 already and The Kiss definitely made it's way into my collection after seeing it, and tasting it obviously. It tastes like strawberries and contains little edible hearts! If lip scrubs aren't your thing, it's also available in a lip balm stick which is just as lovely.

Lover Lamp is a new bath bomb that sounds right up my street. It's full of vanilla and cocoa butter, which are my two favourite things in a Lush product. I picked a few up to make sure I have a stash if I completely fall head over heels for it, which I'm sure I will.

I've never really gotten into Lush soaps. I'm a shower cream kind of girl for sure, but these cute rose shaped soaps caught my eye. The Roses All The Way soap are displayed on a large board of soap, which makes the display so much more appealing, and the green base will be cut up when the Valentine's collection ends and donated to shelters. The roses are actually white underneath, but painted pink.

After we demoed a range of products, we moved over to the back of the store to see how the Cupcake facemask is made. I've made a face mask at Lush before, and it is quite like baking a cake to be honest. I felt like it should've been poured into a tin and put in the over for 20 minutes, but instead when it was done it was potted up for each of us to take one home, which was a nice touch as I've never tried the Cupcake facemask.

To finish off the evening we had a lip pamper session, to get ready for all those Valentine's Day kisses that may or may not have been happening... We used a range of lip scrubs, balms and then topped it all off with their Emotional Brilliance range. I didn't trial any as I was wearing a lipstick already, but all the girls that did looked absolutely fabulous. The range of colours is incredible, from pinks, to blues, to greens, literally all the colours of the rainbow. As most of you know, I am a massive dark red lip fan, so these were obviously my favourites.

A massive thankyou to everyone at Lush Southampton that was involved with the event. I had a brilliant evening, I especially enjoyed catching up with all my blogging babes. I can't wait to try out all the new products, and then pop into store to stock up when I've fallen in love!

10 More Fonts for Bloggers and Creatives

Saturday, 20 February 2016

If you know me, you'll know that hoarding fonts is a hobby of mine. I could literally spend hours sifting through fonts to find the perfect ones. I've only ever done posts about free fonts, and although free fonts are great because well they're free, there really are some beautiful fonts out there that in reality don't cost that much for the use you get out of them. Today's post is a mix of free and paid for fonts, happy font hoarding!

These will always be my favourite posts to create. I'm going to try and make it a monthly post of mine, as I have so many fonts that are just too pretty to be stuck in my photoshop being unused.

What's your favourite font from this post?

How I Edit My Instagram Photos

Monday, 15 February 2016

Instagram has to be one of my favourite platforms. I don't use it to promote my blog a lot because I just don't find that the traffic I get is worth it, if Instagram decided that clickable links would be a good idea I may change my mind. I have an Instagram theme and have done for many years now, which is actually how I got into blogging. I've changed my theme a lot and it's really hard to find one you're happy with, but I think I've finally found one that I want to stick with.

First of all, I get asked a lot what I take my Instagram photos on. The same as my blog, I take all my photos on my iPhone 6. I find this the easiest so all my photos are right there for editing on my phone for Instagram. I edit my blog photos on my laptop, and I will be doing a post about that soon.

I've been through various editing apps and plenty of filters in my time, trying to find the perfect one. I've probably had most of the filters that you can think of, I've had dark, light, overexposed, and the highest saturation going. Looking back, most of them really were not a good look but I loved them at the time. I now use VSCO CAM to edit and I swear by it, I don't use anything else at all. It has everything you need to edit your photos, and the grid setting makes it even easier to see what the photos will look like in an Instagram style feed.

My current filter is the HB1 filter, which is a blue toned filter that darkens the exposure and reduces the contrast. I find this filter so easy to adapt to all my different photos as I have some with my marble background and some out and about with different backgrounds. If I find that the filter makes the photo too dark or there isn't enough contrast I just play around with the expsosure and contrast settings until it fits in my theme. You can also play around with how much of the HB1 filter you want on the photo, I usually always go for the full 12, but lowering it can help fitting into a feed sometimes.

VSCO CAM has a variety of different filters, and I think different filters look good with different types of photos. My other favourite filters are HB2 and A5. All the filters I use are downloaded for free, but I really want to purchase a few of their other preset filters as the S Series of filters is supposed to be really good for clean and bright photos.

Although I don't use any other apps for my editing, I know that Facetune is brilliant for whitening photos and making them lighter. Squaready is good for putting a white square border around photos, which is a theme I used to have but I think mine looks better without borders, it all depends on the photos. As I have a personal account alongside my blog Instagram, I've found that the new editing features on Instagram really aren't that bad, and are really easy to use to make some simple tweaks. I also use the Instagram Layout app to make any collages that go onto my Instagram, which is so easy and quick to use.

You can find my Instagram account here or @perksofbeingami if you'd like to follow me. I want to start doing some Instagram tips posts so let me know in the comments if you'd be interested in reading them. What's your instagram account and do you have a theme?

The Latest from Glo & Ray

Sunday, 14 February 2016

Glo & Ray are still as underrated as ever. I have no idea how more people haven't tried them. When I first started blogging, I hadn't heard of them at all, but they started to pop up a bit and I knew I had to try them. I've never looked back. I don't think I own a product that I dislike. They've released some new products recently which are no disappointment at all, so I thought I'd do a little round up post to show you what's hot right now.

First up is their new 'Touch Eyeshadows', with a selection of 9 different shades, you can pick the perfect duo to put into one of their Eyeshadow Duo Palette. There isn't a massive variety of shades seeing as there are only 9 to choose from, but all 9 are perfect shades for everyone. They're more on the neutral side, rather than bright and colourful which I definitely prefer. I have Ghat* and Galaxy*, which are perfect together, with Galaxy, the lighter champagne gold shade all over the lid, and Ghat, the darker burgundy brown run through the crease, outer v and along the lower lash line.

Eyeliner is something that I really do not wear often. I much prefer a shadow smudged on my lower lash line rather than a liner, and I rarely wear eyeliner on my top lash line anymore so when these dropped through onto my doorstep I was sceptical. I got a selection of their Skybreaker Eyeliners, a lovely Champagne Pink*, Bloody Ruby* a dark matte red, and Garnet*, a shimmery red. As I am not an eyeliner wearer the thought of red eyeliner put me completely out of my comfort zone, and I'm not going to lie I could not rock it at all. After some experimenting I found that Bloody Ruby and Garnet actually made pretty good lip liners as an alternative, applying a lip balm before is essential as they are drying but they definitely make the lipstick stick around. Champagne Pink is absolutely gorgeous along the lower lash line.

Eyebrows are something that I'm seriously into at the moment, and I am thanking myself everyday as they get better as my brows used to be shocking. They're not the best, but this brow pencil is working wonders. I've only ever really used a powder to do my brows which does the job, but after using a pencil for a bit I'll never go back to just powder. I got the Fumo Eyebrow Pencil in Terra Brown* which is a little dark as I am blonde so my brows are quite light, more like non existent actually, but a light hand and this is perfect for adding some extra definition to the shape and filling in my sparse gappy brows. I am useless with brow products and this was so easy to use, and really smooth to apply.

Glo & Ray lipsticks are some of my favourites, I only own a few but I don't dislike any of them. Their La Amo Creamy Shimmer Lipsticks are easy to apply evenly to the lips, they're not drying at all and the wear time is pretty good too. I am in love with the newer red packaging, over their normal matte black, it makes it so easy to spot them in my collection without searching for ages..The variety ranges from nudes, to pinks to reds, so there is something for everyone in the shade range. Crush* is a dark pink toned nude which isn't something I ever really go for, pink just doesn't suit me at all, but this changed my mind slightly. Mysterious* is my favourite out of the three, its a gorgeous deep red shade that I found looks even better over the Bloody Ruby Eyeliner. It's not a matte shade so the wear time isn't the best, but it lasts a lot better over the eyeliner than it does on it's own. Honey* is a coral toned nude that I really do not think suits me, it's a beautiful shade that I think is perfect for the spring and summer months but coral is a shade that I cannot pull off at all.

Ghat, Galaxy, Crush, Mysterious, Honey, Champagne Pink, Garnet, Bloody Ruby, Terra Brown
Have you tried anything from Glo & Ray yet?

NEW! Sleek I-Divine Eyeshadow Palettes | Review + Swatches

Thursday, 11 February 2016

Highstreet brands are on top form with their latest releases, and these two new palettes from Sleek are no exception. Sleek have launched two new palettes into their ever loved I-Divine range, which are all palettes housing 12 eyeshadows in a mixture of mattes and shimmers. If you haven't seen any Sleek eyeshadow palettes before you've been living under a rock, probably the same rock as me because although I'd seen them before I didn't know just how good they were until now.

Sleek I Divine A New Day and All Night Long Palettes

The two new palettes in the collection are named All Night Long* and A New Day*. A New Day being the more daytime shades palette, consisting of 5 matte shades and a gorgeous range of shimmers. I definitely think this can be used to transition into an evening makeup look as well, as there is a few deeper shades that can be run through the crease to create a more dramatic eye. All Night Long is my favourite out of the two palettes, although it only contains a few matte shades, the shimmer shades are to die for. Just look at that gorgeous copper shade in the bottom right. The shades in this palette are darker than A New Day, so more like a night time palette, but again I would definitely find myself rocking this palette during the day too. I think this is a perfect palette to start the day off simple, and then branch into something a bit more daring in the evening. A perfect palette to take to work with you when you're heading straight out after.

All the shades in both palettes are incredibly smooth and buttery to swatch. I only had trouble with swatching a few of the matter shades because they're so like my skin tone so they don't show up that well. When applied to the eyes, there is a little bit of fallout but that's nothing a quick tap of the brush before applying can't handle. I found the shades in the All Night Long palette a little bit more pigmented than the A New Day palette, but as they're darker colours this is something that I did expect. Applying the shades over a good eye primer increases the wear time slightly, but it's not essential to make them last. Overall, the shades have a brilliant colour pay off and blend flawlessly. If I didn't know these were Sleek shadows, I definitely would've marked them as a high end product.

Both palettes are now available from Boots for £7.99, here and here

I am definitely going to be picking up some more Sleek palettes very soon. What's your favourite Sleek product?

A Rather Large Lush Haul

Wednesday, 10 February 2016

I haven't posted a Lush haul on my blog in what seems like forever. To say I buy Lush products a lot would be an understatement, I am absolutely in love with them. Every time I go shopping I usually come home with some Lush goodies. I've collected together most of the things that I've bought since the end of December, well the ones I haven't used up yet, to give you a collective haul. I'm on my way to Lush tomorrow too, to pick up their Valentine's Day and Mother's Day ranges.

Holly Golighty Bubble Bar | £4.95 | This is a product I picked up a few days after Christmas, in the Boxing Day sales. It's a bubble bar that was released the year before last and I didn't get to try it that year as I couldn't justify the price of it at the time. If you're a fan of glitter, this is one for you. It's a large bubble bar topped with holly leaves, coated in a massive amount of silver glitter. I haven't tried it yet, but I know the inside is green and it looks gorgeous in the bath. I think due to the size it will last me a few baths.

Yuzu and Cocoa Shower Cream | £9.75 for 250g | If chocolate oranges are your thing, then this shower cream is for you. I'd never been fussed by Lush's Shower Creams and thought Snow Fairy was the best, how wrong was I. After Lush got my order wrong, they sent me this as a replacement product and I am so glad it happened. It's my favourite shower cream and I've picked up another bottle already so I never run out.

Intergalactic Bath Bomb | £3.95 | Ever since the Oxford Street Exclusives were distributed into all stores, I've been picking this up everytime I go into store. It's the most amazing bath bomb, alongside The Experimenter. The colours are beautiful and it leaves the bath water a very glittery deep bluey purple shade.

Golden Wonder Bath Bomb | £3.95 | Another one from the Christmas range, and definitely my favourite. I seem to have a thing for glitter blue bath bombs. It may be gold on the outside which produces all the glitter, but once placed into water the gold melts away to reveal a gorgeous blue inner layer full of stars that float around the bath. The other bonus to this bath bomb is that it is absolutely huge, so for £3.95 it's an absolute bargain.

Golden Handshake Hot Hand Mask | £2.95 |  After attending a Lush event last year and getting this as a product to try I can't get enough of it. My skin is seriously suffering at the moment due to all this horrible weather, it's completely dried out. This hand mask has been perfect for restoring them back to the perfect moisture. It's not the easiest product I've ever used, as you essentially have to sit with your hands in a bowl for 20 minutes. It can be a bit messy and time consuming, but stick a youtube video on before you put your hands in the bowl and let your hands soak in luxury.

Avobath Bath Bomb | £3.50 | As spring is approaching us, I had to pick up my favourite spring and summer bath bomb. Avobath smells like those refresher sweets, like sherbet lemon. I absolutely love the scent and think this bath bomb is perfect for a morning bath to energise, rather than an evening bath. It's so strong that it scents my whole room more than any of my other Lush products, and the pale green colour leaves a lovely tint to the bath water too.

The Comforter Shower Cream |  £9.75 for 250g | Another shower cream?! I was really late to jump on the shower cream bandwagon, but when I did I bought a few. The Comforter was a purchase that I made when I went up to Birmingham, and it's literally my favourite bubble bar in a bottle. I love The Comforter as a bubble bar more than anything, but there are times when I would rather just jump in the shower than run a bath, which is why this is perfect. The scent is exactly the same, and it leaves the skin feeling so smooth. I will be repurchasing a massive bottle of this very soon so I never run out.

Candy Mountain Bubble Bar | £2.95 | Again, another product from the Christmas range. I actually wanted to buy the Magic Wand Bubble Bar, but they didn't have any in stock so I picked up this instead. I've had it so many times before, and I do love it. It leaves the bath a gorgeous pink colour, and the sweet candyfloss vanilla scent matches it perfectly. It leaves an ultimate girly bath full of bubbles.

Big Bang Bubble Bar | £3.75 | I couldn't help but repurchase the Big Bang Bubble Bar anything that's blue and smells zesty like refreshers is an instant love for me. This bubble bar is topped with a bath melt, which carries on working it's magic throughout the time that you're in the bath. Big Bang is full of nourishing ingredients like avocado oil, rice syrup and cocoa butter which leaves the water so soft and moisturising on the skin.

Snow Fairy Shower Gel | £3.95 for 100g | My favourite product from the Christmas range without fail. I've been buying Snow Fairy every year ever since I first got into Lush products, I usually buy a massive bottle and have it last me the whole year. This year I decided to only get two small bottles as I'd picked up other shower creams that I think I love even more, but sometimes nothing beats the candyfloss vanilla scents of Snow Fairy.

Kinky Hot Oil Treatment | £6.50 | I'm the kinda girl that does literally nothing with her hair. Like ever. I wash it, I dry it, and if you're lucky I'll straighten it. I really do not do anything fancy with it, and don't really use any fancy products in it very often. I spotted these in Lush and decided to pick one up as my hair is in awful condition due to it being dyed all the time from around the age of 13 to 16. I went every colour you could imagine, I saw this hot oil treatment and knew my hair needed a pick me up. I will report back after using it.

The Comforter Bubble Bar | £4.95 | I'm pretty sure this is my favourite Lush product ever. It's one that I've been buying since the start and I don't think I will ever stop buying it. I'm not a pink girl at all, but I'm a sucker for the gorgeous berry fruit scent. I get 2 or 3 baths out of this bubble bar, so for £4.95 it's a brilliant buy.

Star Dust Bath Bomb | £2.95 | This is very similar to the Butterbear Bath Bomb which I absolutely adore, and when Butterbear was out of stock I opted for Star Dust. It's got a very similar vanilla scent, but I find Star Dust more of a powdered scent, like icing sugar. It doesn't do anything fancy in the water, it's a very simple bath bomb that leaves the skin very silky smooth. If you're a fan of colours this isn't one for you, but it's a great bath bomb for when your skin is feeling a little dry and malnourished.

That was quite a haul! I can't wait to pick up some more when I visit on Friday, for the Valentine's Day and Mother's Day collections. What have you been picking up recently?

Sleek VIP Lipsticks | Review + Swatches

Tuesday, 9 February 2016

Sleek is a brand that I've always been meaning to try, but never really got round to picking anything up. I own a few of their lipsticks, but I've had my eye on their eyeshadow and contour palettes for so long. I really need to pick some up soon. At the beginning of February they released a new line of lipsticks, their Sleek VIP Lipsticks and they really are one to try.

Their recent launch has to be one of my favourites as Sleek have shown that lipsticks do look different on different skin tones, and launched a media campaign showing all 6 shades on a variety of skin tones. This is something that needs to happen because the difference in shades on light and dark skin is massive sometimes, and I only ever see swatches on lighter skin.

The lipsticks themselves have a semi matte formula which I have fallen completely head over heels for. It's so nourishing on the lips, and isn't dry at all like a matte lip. They are full of shea butter and coconut oil, which has been brilliant for my lips as they are currently so dry and cracked it's gross. I haven't tested out the full wear time of these lipsticks yet, but they've lasted around 5 hours through eating and drinking. A touch up may be necessary, but for a semi matte lipstick I think they've done pretty well to last 5 hours.

The range includes 6 shades ranging from pinky nudes, to oranges, to reds. These shades are perfect to get you through the spring and summer months, my favourites so far being Private Booth and Night Spot. I hope that they extend this collection eventually as I love the formulation, but I feel like some darker berry shades would be perfect for autumn and winter. Black packaging always looks simple and sleek, but I love the fact they've added the clear glass to the bottom that shows the colour of the lipstick. I hate having to search through all my lipsticks for the right shade, especially in the mornings when I'm half asleep.

These Sleek VIP Lipsticks* are available now for £5.49 each, but they're currently on offer in Boots at 2 for £8 here, which is a bargain.

What's your favourite shade?

*PR samples sent for review, but all opinions are 100% my own.

18th Birthday Wishlist

Sunday, 7 February 2016

Not to alarm anyone, but my 18th birthday is TWO WEEKS TODAY! This year has gone so quickly already, it's crazy. Turning 18 isn't really a massive thing for me to be honest, but it's always an excuse to create a birthday wishlist!

NARS One Shocking Moment Palette | I have wanted this palette ever since it came out. I am yet to own anything from NARS, and this palette would be a dream. I can't justify spending £20+ on one blush that I may rarely use from NARS, but this palette is a bargain for £45 as it includes 7 shades.

Tarte Tartelette Palette | As Tarte is an American brand, I haven't tried any of their products but I've seen a few people blogging about this palette and it is absolutely beautiful. I may have to get one shipped over in a Sephora order sometime soon, along with the Tartelette in Bloom palette. The packaging is incredible, and the shades are so wearable and pretty. I love the variety of looks you could create with the 12 shades, but they all fit perfectly together in the palette.

Morphe 35O Palette | The most impossible palette to get hold of ever. Never have I known a palette to sell out quicker than it is restocked, it is in such high demand. If I ever manage to get my hands on this I will be one happy lady, for under £20 Morphe palettes are a steal. The formulation of their eyeshadows is incredible for the price they are, I am seriously hoping this is restocked sometime soon. I need it.

Charlotte Tilbury Vintage Vamp Palette | Ever since I laid my eyes on this palette, I've wanted it. There's a bit of a trend with this wishlist, it seems to be full of palettes but I seriously just cannot get enough. I don't own anything from Charlotte Tilbury, but it's only a matter of time before I take the plunge and purchase something. Just look at that packaging, it's an absolute dream.

Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Blush Palette | I actually ordered this palette on the day it was released, but Urban Decay messed up my order and only sent out the eyeshadow palette. I was going to repurchase but I've asked for it for my birthday, and if none of my family take the hint I will be purchasing it straight away. I need to complete my Urban Decay Gwen Stefani palette collection, as the eyeshadow offering is gorgeous and I can only imagine the blush palette is the same.

Marble Makeup Bag | I definitely follow that blogger cliché of loving absolutely everything marble. I can't help it at all, it's just so aesthetically pleasing. When I spotted this makeup bag on Etsy I knew I just had to have it, I am in desperate need of a new one so...

Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream | Marc Jacobs perfume's have always been my favourite. I've had a few of them and loved every single one. I ran out of my latest bottle of Daisy recently, and I really want to get Daisy Dream ready for the spring season.

Gwen Stefani '714' Lipstick | Along with the palettes, Gwen Stefani has released a killer collection of lipsticks for Urban Decay. Of course I want every shade, but 714, a matte red, is top of my list. It is a perfect Gwen colour.

Gwen Stefani 'Ex Girlfriend' Lipliner | I'm not a massive fan of lipliner, I don't wear it very often as I'm pretty lazy. I wasn't fussed by Gwen's lipliner collection until I saw a swatch of 'Ex Girlfriend'. The perfect matte nude for me. Get in my collection please.

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish | I had a sample of Cleanse and Polish ages ago and I absolutely loved it. As 2016 is going to be my year for improving my skincare, I think it's only right that I invest a bit more into the products I use on my face. Cleanse and Polish is a dream for removing makeup, so easy and makes the skin feel so smooth.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow | My eyebrows are completely none existent due to them being blonde. I've been wanting Dip Brow for so long, why do America have all the best brands. ABH come to the UK please.

New Balance 996 | This wishlist was going to be all beauty, as I always want makeup more than anything but I spotted these whilst browsing through Office and I am in love. I got a pair of New Balance's for my birthday last year, and they have been very well worn. I think it is time for a new pair and these are perfect.

How To Stay Organised

Friday, 5 February 2016

A while back I wrote a post about balancing life with blogging and work, which you can read here. Whilst that is all still completely relevant, I wanted to write a post about how to stay organised with life on a whole. Blogging isn't my whole life, even though I spend a hell of a lot of time on it, it's not the only thing I do. I work, I go to college, I go to football, I have other plans. I find it hard to be organised, I'm not going to lie I am the worst for it, but I've found a few things have helped me along the way.

Buy a diary or notebook | I have about 100 notebooks that are all so pretty that I can't use them. Recently I picked up this gorgeous Kate Spade Notebook from Amara. I am in love with it and it really encourages me to take notes and be more organised. The quote on the front is 'You can never be overdressed or overeducated' which is one of my favourite quotes from Oliver Wilde. I take this notebook everywhere with me, I plan everything in it. I write my weekly meal plans, my weekly workout schedule, my blogging to do lists, and everything else I need to remember in it. Some people find a diary more helpful, but a notebook works great for me.

Set out a schedule | Ever since I started planning my meals and workout routines at the start of the week, I've actually started sticking to them. I plan my food shopping around what meals I have planned during the week, and I plan my workout schedules around my college and work hours. I find that because I've planned it and written it all down it helps to me to actually complete it all. If I don't plan my workouts into my days I'm likely to skip them, which is the same as my meals and I'm more likely to buy/eat junk food.

Prioritise the important stuff | It's all too easy to do the things you want to do, rather than doing the things that actually need to be done. I am the absolute queen of this. The amount of time I spend at the gym or working on my blog, when I should be studying is awful. I procrastinate away from my studies so much because I generally don't enjoy college, but I'm learning that this comes back around to bite you on the bum at the end of the day. Prioritise your commitments, if it can be done another day then it should be at the bottom of the list, things that are essential should be at the top.

Don't get worked up about it | My favourite quote is 'Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.' I've really started to live by this quote in life. If you can tell me that you've never missed a deadline, a workout, skipped a class, or ever panicked about anything, then you'd be lying. It's normal to panic, it's normal to stress, but don't get yourself in a bubble of panic like it's the end of the world. Every problem has a solution.

Don't be afraid to ask for help | If you're struggling with something, ask for help, if you're struggling with your workload, speak to someone about it. There is a solution to every problem. The chances are that someone is having exactly the same problems as you and will be willing to help you as much as they can. I find Twitter a brilliant place to vent about my problems as there is always someone who is going through or has been through the same, and they always give the best advice.

Take time out | Taking time out to relax is one of the most important parts of staying organised which seems silly but it really is important. If you're not getting anywhere with what you're supposed to be doing, you'll only stress at it for hours anyway. Take a break, sit back, run a bath, grab a book. Do whatever you find useful to relax, and revisit what you were supposed to be doing with a clear mind. You're more likely to enjoy the task more if you're not stressing, and tackle it quickly and more efficiently.

I hope this post helps you attempt to stay organised this year!

Beauty Haulin' in 2016

Thursday, 4 February 2016

This month was supposed to be the month that I went on a spending ban and didn't spend any money. I failed miserably at this. I am awful at saving money, but it's nearly payday again and I still have money left in my bank so I'm getting better I think. It would be a lie if I said that I actually bought all of this in January, as I picked up a few things at the very end of 2015, but that doesn't make a good post title, so we'll just brush over that! Since photographing this haul, I may have spent even more money on beauty products. It was a very exciting purchase though and I'm sure if you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you'll know exactly what it was. For now, here's my haul!

Around the middle of December, I took a trip down to Homsense and TK Maxx in Hedge End to check out the store as it recently opened and I hadn't had a chance to visit yet. I had a voucher to spend so I headed straight to the beauty section in TK Maxx as they usually have some good bargains! I was lucky enough to find an Olivia Palmero x Ciate Lipstick in the shade Praline, I have been dying to get an Olivia Palermo lipstick for ages! Just look at that packaging. I also picked up an Illamsqua Lipstick in the shade Test, a Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm in the shade Shameless and Revlon's Lash Potion Mascara. I also got my hands on two new Real Techniques brushes which I stupidly forgot to photograph, but I picked up a new Powder Brush as the handle came off of mine and it was looking a little worse for wear, and also the Stippling Brush which I've wanted for a while so I was so happy to spot it. In total I paid around £5 per lipstick, £4 for each of the Revlon Products, and about £7-£8 for each of the Real Techniques products, what a deal! They had so many other good bargains from Stila, Illamasqua, NARS and Ciate but a lot of it had been swatched/used unfortunately, like why do people do that?!

After raiding the beauty section, I headed over to find some new skincare to try out. I'd heard very good things about the brand Good Things, haha get it. No ok I'm not funny, I'll stop. They had loads of Good Things products on offer, and they were really cheap so I picked up as many different things as I could. I got my hands on the Blemish Control Gel Mask, the Stay Clear Purifying Cleanser, the Manuka Honey Radiance Fask Mask and the Manuka Honey Creamy Cleanser. I think I paid around £10 for all 4 products, so not a bad deal there either!

Before I headed to Nottingham for New Year I made a quick stop off in Boots to pick up some of my ever loved Garnier Micellar Water because I knew full well on New Years Eve I would not be using cleanser to take my makeup off. In the end I don't even think I took my makeup off, but it was the thought that counted. Obviously you can't buy just one thing from Boots so I also walked away with the St Ives Gentle Apricot Face Scrub which I used to use religiously and then randomly stopped one day, I am now loving it more than ever again! L'Oreal lipsticks are some of my favourites so I just had to pick up two more, and they were on buy one get one half price or something so that justified it.  I got Blake's Red and Eva's Pink. Blake Lively is my spirit angel so I just had to get her gorgeous red shade, and Eva's pink is SO pretty I just couldn't resist.

What have you picked up in 2016?

January Favourites

January was quite a boring month for me makeup wise. I didn't really try anything new, and didn't change anything in my makeup routine too much so I really struggled picking out some beauty favourites of the month. I've been trying to take care of my skin a bit more though, so skincare has been a favourite of mine on the whole throughout the month. I refound love for some old products, and started using my stash a bit more, here's what I've been loving!

Benefit They're Real | I recently repurchased this, and I am so glad that I did. I loved this mascara for so long last year, but I just couldn't justify purchasing it when I could get such a similar mascara on the highstreet for half the price. After repurchasing, I've realised that nothing is ever really quite as good as They're Real and I will be repurchasing it again and again. Saying that Rollerlash is pretty high up on my list to try too, maybe I'll purchase that next...

Good Things Stay Clear Purifying Cleanser | I picked this up in a bit of a mad TK Maxx haul at the beginning of December and it must've cost me about £2.50 but I absolutely love it. It removes makeup so easily and it's so refreshingly cool on the skin that I will be purchasing this again. I'm not going to say it works wonders and does anything fancy as I generally just use it as a makeup remover before going in with another cleanser to double cleanse, but for £2.50 it's doing a pretty good job.

Lush The Comforter Shower Cream | When I visited Birmingham over New Year I finally took the plunge and bought Lush's The Comforter Shower Cream and I'm not really sure how I lived without it before. It is heaven in a bottle. Alongside Yuzu and Cocoa, I haven't used anything else in my showers all month. (You're probably thinking that I'm lying because the bottle is full, I've loved it so much that I've already purchased a new one for when I run out...)

L'Oreal Infallible Matte Foundation | I talked about this more in my 2015 Favourites Base Products post, which you can read here for a better review. This is the best matte foundation I have ever tried, but I am pale af right now and the lightest shade is a little dark so I think I need to get my hands on those The Body Shop Lightening Drops. Fu highstreet foundations for being too dark.

St Ives Apricot Gentle Face Scrub | This is another product that I included in my 2015 Favourites in the skincare section, you can read the full post here. This is a product that I used to love god knows how many months ago, and I picked it up again to rekindle my love for it. It rekindled. I am in love again. It's a great alternative to my Lush Ocean Salt Face Scrub for the more gentle days.

What have you been loving this January?
